Situated below Mount Maroma this south-facing village and its surrounding area enjoy spectacular views across Lake Viñuela to the sea.  The village is predominantly Spanish, and in spite of the development at the entrance to the village, has kept its Spanish heart.  It is situated approximately 10 minutes from Lake Viñuela and 30 minutes from the coast.  Above the village is the Natural Park, with picnic areas under the trees and well-marked walking trails to follow.  The Alcaucín district is quite large and covers an area stretching down to the Venta Baja valley and Puente Don Manuel where our offices are situated.
